THE OPENING
We see the contestant's training in the ring doing various exercise, until Al Snow huddles them around for a meeting.
"For the past six weeks, you have been learning what it's like to be a professional wrestler in the ring, Now you are going to learn what it's like to be a professional wrestler on the road." said Al Snow explaining he was going to take the five contestant's on the road with him.
ROLLING HIS EYES
"This is going to entail a lot of responsibility, so I will be with you the whole time," Al said while rolling his eyes. Al Snow knew what he was getting himself in too.
Snow told them they would travel with him to a PPV event, then to the next night's RAW is WAR, and then to the next night's Smackdown! It would show them what life on the road as a WWF Superstar is all about.
All of the contestant's were thrilled. Harvard Chris was thrilled the most because they would be stopping over in Chicago and he would get to see his parents.
BACK HOME; TIME TO PACK
All the contestant's returned home and started packing and making phone calls to their family or friends explaining what was going on.
Taylor called her parents who were less them supportive. Once again they proved just how horrible they are as parents.
"I tried to watch the other night, but I had to turn it off," Taylor's father informed her about trying to watch pro-wrestling.
Taylor explained to her parents that if she was at home she would be unhappy and probably doing nothing anyway, and she thought she had a good chance to win. At which time her mother responded, "I don't want you to win, I don't want you to be a wrestler." Taylor's mother told her to come home and she could watch TV.
PERSONAL THOUGHT INTERJECTION; STOP THE REPORT
Did I hear that correctly? Young Taylor has been working her ass off for six weeks, and survived this far, and her mother's only comment is for her to quit her dream and come home to watch TV? Brilliant! Supportive! With parents like this, I am surprised Taylor has lasted as long as she has. It is a testament to her will power and desire to see her dreams come true, that she hasn't quit because her parents are horrible.
SETTING UP THE RING
Once in Chicago, Al Snow showed them the ropes, literally! They all got to help put the ring together and prepare for the PPV show.
"There's a lot of work involved," Nidia said.
Snow hammered the point home to the contestant's that they needed to show respect for everybody involved. The best way to actually accomplish this task was to physically do the hard work and learn what it takes to put a PPV show together, from the backstage area to the actual in ring product.
"It was a lot of work, but everyone out there is just so happy with what they do", Nidia told us at home. She was genuinely surprised at how all of the worker's acted like a giant family and helped each other.
PPV TIME
The five contestant's joined Al Snow up in the luxury sky box to watch the PPV and it allowed Snow to go over the matches as they were seeing them live. He explained what the wrestler's were thinking and pointed out all of the different spots.
NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN
The group was then allowed to go out for the night and was treated to free drinks in a special VIP room.
Taylor, probably because of her lousy parents, took advantage of this and got totally wasted.
"She got completely plastered, and then when we got in the car, she was being really flirtatious with Maven. So Nidia and I started egging her on to make a move", said Harvard Chris about Taylor's escapades.
COME ON MAVEN, KISS ME!
Taylor was struggling to force Maven to kiss her, but Maven was having no part of it. I think he has a girlfriend, otherwise I don't know why he did not take the shot at Taylor. Unless it was because she was so drunk that she did not know what she was doing.
Taylor kept it up and was eventually biting Maven as Nidia and Harvard Chris were laughing their asses off in the back seat. Josh was sitting on the other side of Maven and didn't look to thrilled at what was going on in front of him.
"I had a mark on my arm for a week," Maven said about the bite mark that was left on his arm after Taylor bit him.
Taylor commented that she had made a total 'ass' out of herself the night before.
BREAKFAST AS HARVARD'S
The group got up early in the morning, which thrilled Taylor. Taylor was recovering from a mega hang over from all of the free drinks. The group was going to go over to Harvard Chris' parents home for breakfast. Harvard said it was good to know he was going home, but he knew if he wanted to see his parents he would have to bring the other contestant's. He did not seem to thrilled about that.
Taylor demanded a window seat because she was hung over, she got it.
Harvard Chris introduced his family to all of the contestant's. His parents showed off their house to the group.
"It was exactly how I pictured it, It was the Brady Bunch." was Nidia's response to the entire situation.
Taylor felt really ill and was trying to relax on the couch and was almost passed out. She kept disappearing in to the bath room. When they all sat down for breakfast Taylor was absent. She was in the bath room according to Harvard Chris' sisters.
Maven commented Harvard Chris' parents home was very nice. He was really impressed by his parents, sisters, and entire family being so nice to them.
Harvard's parents were also very supportive of what he was doing, and Taylor made the comment that it would be nice if her parents cared as much about what she was trying to do. She is obviously feeling let down by the lack of interest her parents are showing in the pursuit of her dream.
"Yeah, I puked in Chris's parents bathroom," Taylor said. Which was why she had disappeared at breakfast time. She wasn't happy about it, but was being honest.
BACK AT THE ARENA, IN INDIANA
Nidia asked one of the dumbest questions of all time when they were backstage (when they had first arrived in the building). "When do we get to go backstage?" said Nidia. Al Snow rolled his eyes and responded, "You are already backstage" and then acted embarrassed she would ask such a question.
Probably because it was a markish question for somebody that is nearly in the business to ask.
When the group got to the next arena, Brooklyn Brawler (Steve Lombardi) was backstage in the production area. He asked them if they could do promo's and a few of them said "no". Lombardi told them they could and that it was really easy, and decided to give them all a test run.
Nidia was asked to cut a promo on Chyna. She did so going in to some New York accent which was horrible. But it wasn't the worst promo of the bunch.
Josh was asked to shoot a promo about beating Rhyno. He asked if he could do his own character and Lombardi said he couldn't, he had to be THE SPONGE. It was an okay promo with Josh saying he was going to beat Rhyno for the European title because he "sucked everything up, because he was The Sponge". Rhyno caught wind of the promo and came in to watch the replay of it.
Rhyno had Josh in a headlock as he was watching the promo and was a really good sport about the entire business. Josh commented to us that he was okay because he didn't say anything bad about Rhyno and Rhyno didn't beat the hell out of him for the promo.
Harvard did a promo which was decent, but nothing to write home about. Then it was Taylor's turn. She was asked to cut a promo on Chyna and she did the worst promo of the bunch. She rambled on endlessly about nonsense and when it was over she ran away and dove on the couch. It was obvious she was the victim of stage fright (seeing herself on camera).
Nothing major, that is something which can easily be overcome in due time. But it did show she wasn't crisp and 100% ready. In the ring she is the best of the two (Nidia and herself) but on promo's Nidia is the best out of the two. Overall, Taylor is solid and Nidia is shaky (in my opinion).
The final promo was Maven. They asked Maven if he wanted some direction and he said he was ready. They asked him if he needed some direction or if he wanted to wing it. He said he would wing it and make it up as he went along.
Maven cut the best promo of the bunch bar none. He rambled off a coherent promo on how he was going to defeat Raven. It was beyond being good. It was like a ROCK promo. Maven showed he has the promo end of the business down and probably could be ready for promo's on TV right now.
The thing about Maven's promo was he wasn't looking around as if there was a camera present. He turned it "on" and was a totally different person when he was on camera. It was awesome. Certainly makes Maven the favorite in the entire competition right now. If he was to win, he would easily be WWF TV ready.
At some point the contestant's and Al Snow went shopping and passed a wig shop. Josh noticed the wig would look like Al Snow. So they bought it and dressed up Josh to look like Al Snow.
Every time Al would do something, Josh would mimic him. Al said it had become a competition between him and Josh to see who could get on each others nerves first on the road. Josh kept mimicking Al and Al wasn't happy about it. I guess Josh won this round.
DRIVE TO MILWAUKEE
Snow informed us all that out of respect, when a WWF performer is driving from town to town, everybody in the car stays awake. All of the members stayed awake except for Taylor who kept falling asleep. Josh kept waking her up.
"It was really something to see," said Maven about all of the fans swarming to get Al Snow's autograph.
The contestants's commented that it was easy for them to forget about Snow being a legit superstar because to them he is just their trainer and they see him every day.
We saw various superstars eating lunch in the lunch area. Our group was with Al and eating lunch as well.
Al left at one point, and Tazz left the table he was at and came over and sat down with the crew and started joking around and laughing.
"It was really cool to see how far we've come with Tazz," Harvard commented about Tazz coming over and acting friendly.
"At the beginning he couldn't even look at us. Now he's sitting eating lunch and telling jokes with us", said Harvard Chris.
Tazz joked with Josh that it would "get over" if he went around and asked for autograph's.
Josh asked if it would really get over, and asked if maybe he should go get his Al Snow wig and go around asking for autograph's as Al Snow. That would have been a classic TOUGH ENOUGH moment. It never happened.
Jeff Hardy came over to the table at one point and said hello. Al was back sitting with the group at this time. Nidia was awed by Jeff Hardy and exclaimed, "There is the boy I love". She was giggling about Jeff Hardy and how she loved him. Al told her to "stop it", not in a serious way, but also not in a non serious way. I could see how it would be a big headache if Nidia was always running around backstage awing over Jeff Hardy.
BACK AT TRAXX
We see them training a bit and going over the moves they have learned. We see them doing a bit more then they had before and they are starting to put matches together.
Nidia comments that at the start Al said it might not make any sense now but in the end it will all make perfect sense (referring to what they were being taught). Nidia said that what Al told them in the start was true.
After seeing what the wrestler's did at the PPV and having Al explain it all to them, everything they had ever learned made complete sense and it all started to come together.
"After seeing what they did in the ring, everything really fell into place for us," Nidia said.
MY THOUGHTS
This was without a doubt the best show of the lot. It showed us what happens backstage to help the PPV show come together. It allowed us to get a glimpse of what it's like to travel on the road as a wrestler. We got to see the promo machine and see how the promo's are put together.
I think the lack of training for this episode was made up ten fold by the backstage, behind the scene's footage that we got to see. All of the boys eating together like a huge family and all of the interaction between the heels and the faces behind the scene's. As well as Al and the constant interaction between the kids and Snow.
Especially Josh and Snow. And the fact that the "MOST MISERABLE MAN ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET" broke kayfabe again this week and was all smiles and laughs talking to the contestant's which all of the trainer's are starting to refer to as "our kids".
Great stuff. I thought the family interaction with Taylor's family alone is going to drive her to win this damned thing. She might not have a family at home that appreciates her! Or wants her to follow through on her dreams, but she certainly has a BIG FAMILY known as the WWF if she wins the contest and wins the contract. The WWF would be supportive of her, and her parents would probably jump on the band wagon if she did win the contest. However; maybe she won't be there to allow them to jump on her band wagon.
I know it would be a tough decision to make, but they have not supported her once. If she fails, no doubt they are going to tell her "it wasn't meant to be honey". I don't think she is going to lose. I don't think she thinks she is going to lose. The only people that do not believe in her right not are her parents, who would rather have her at home watching TV and doing nothing then out chasing and pursuing her dreams. I don't get it. Maybe her parents are jealous she is chasing her dream and is within a few weeks of acrually obtaining it, and they aren't.
Whatever, I think her parents are lousy and I somehow feel happy to know the rest of the nation is seeing how horrible they are as well. That is something that can not be edited out. That is something that has been shown to the entire nation. Somehow, I hope her parents are at home watching this TOUGH ENOUGH SHOW and are thinking, "what the hell were we thinking?". Then again, they probably didn't even watch the show and don't consider it something they needed to give their attention too.
